Preface

These are the R programming notes for MATH550 Statistics in Practice on the MSc in Statistics, and SCC.461 Programming for Data Scientists on the MSc in Data Science. The notes form the basis of 6 computer labs, which are interspersed with plenary lectures. The exercises contained within the various chapters constitute lab practice in using R, and you should feel at liberty to ask questions of the lab demonstrators at all times.
